Citizen science research concerning the impact of thinning on temperate forest biodiversity

Abstract:
Forest thinning is a current conservation technique used to improve forest ecosystems. This study assessed the effectiveness of this technique by comparing tree species richness and diversity in sections of a temperate forest that were either thinned or left undisturbed. The data gathered was submitted to a national database, where it will potentially contribute to future conservation biology research studies.
