Education Program
The USA National Phenology
Network depends on the involvement of educational institutions and volunteer organizations from across the United States to assist with building our long-term data set. These key partners can motivate and organize people of all ages to observe and learn about the seasonal changes of the ecosystem around them. On this website formal, non-formal, and informal educators will find the resources and information they need to incorporate phenology monitoring into their educational program and to foster an awareness phenology and climate.
The USA-NPN Education Program has articulated three five-year goals for engaging Middle and High School youth as well as adult audiences. These goals, designed to utilize the Nature’s Notebook observation
platform are:
- To improve science and climate literacy through engaging participants in accuratephenology monitoring in support of scientific research
- To create phenology/nature/self relationships via data collection in directed scientific outdoor experiences
- To integrate science and education via offering long-term experiential opportunities to participate in science, research, and career education
